Nearly 2,000 Stone Containers Waiting for Space in Espírito Santo Ports

Logistics remain a challenge for natural stone exporters in Espírito Santo. Approximately 1,900 stone containers that have already been sold are currently stuck in the state, waiting for space for export, representing over R$280 million (US$50 million) in sales yet to be shipped.

Tales Machado, president of Centrorochas, highlights that efforts are underway to find solutions, but the situation persists. He projects that with logistical normalization, 2024 could be a record year for natural stone exports.

  • Impact of car imports in Espírito Santo: The recent drop in electric vehicle imports could free up more port space for stone shipments, which is critical to meet the growing international demand for natural materials.

Despite logistical challenges, there is optimism that the natural stone sector in Brazil could set new export records this year, provided that port issues are resolved.
